RIVER GUARDIAN

General Information

1. Where do the operations take place? Where will I go?

Our operations are situated in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon, approximately 250 kilometers from Manaus, along the Jatapu, Uatumã, and Capucapu rivers.

2. Where should I book my flight to?

Your destination is Manaus, in the state of Amazonas. Upon your arrival at the airport, our dedicated team will be there to greet you, assist with your hotel transfer, and provide the necessary support.

3. What should I bring?

To ensure your comfort in the Amazon’s climate, we recommend the following items:
Clothing: Long-sleeved UV-protective shirts, lightweight pants, caps or hats, and breathable sneakers.
Accessories: Sunglasses and sunscreen.
Upon your arrival, you will receive a welcome kit that includes a UV shirt and a cap.
Since you’ll be in an aquatic environment, we advise bringing light, quick-drying clothing.

4. What fishing gear should I bring? Do you provide any?

While many anglers prefer to use their own gear, we can also provide fishing tackle (rod + spinning reel or baitcaster) for an additional fee of 220 USD. Here are our recommendations for fishing in the Amazon:
Rods: Approximately 6’00”, 25lbs, heavy power, fast action.
Reels: High-speed retrieve reels (7:1 and above).
Line: Multifilament, 50 lbs.
Lures:
o Topwater: Poppers, walkers, and choppers.
o Hair jigs (approximately 5/8 oz).
o Jerkbaits.
o Spinner baits.
o Sizes ranging from 8 to 20 cm.
o Recommended colors: green, white, yellow, and red.

5. Is it possible to fish in the Amazon without any prior experience?

Absolutely! Before each expedition, we conduct a comprehensive lesson on casting, baiting, and proper fish handling. Our knowledgeable fishing guides will be by your side to assist you throughout your experience.

6. Are there a lot of mosquitoes?

In the region where we operate, mosquitoes are generally not a concern during the fishing season.

7. Should I get any vaccinations before going to the Amazon?

There are no mandatory vaccinations required for entry into Brazil or the Amazon.
However, we recommend that travelers receive one dose of the yellow fever vaccine (for those without contraindications), at least 10 days prior to arrival, despite no reported cases in our area.

8. Do I need a visa to enter Brazil?

As of April 10, 2025, travelers from the United States, Canada, and Australia will require a visa to enter Brazil. Citizens of the European Union do not need a visa for tourism and can stay for up to 90 days. If you are from another nationality, please reach out to us, and we can assist you in checking the latest visa requirements.

9. Are the facilities accessible?

We are working on it, but currently our facilities are not equipped to accommodate individuals with special needs.

10. Do you have specific menus for people with dietary restrictions?

Our menu features traditional Brazilian cuisine and will be shared with you prior to your trip. We are more than happy to accommodate dietary restrictions to ensure you have the best possible experience.

11. When traveling to the Amazon, do I need any insurance?

While health and travel insurance are not mandatory, we highly recommend securing both to ensure peace of mind during your fishing trip.
